How Sweet It Is 2013

As David Henderson’s mother, Jenny, struggles with her husband Grif’s hesitance to accompany their teenage daughter on an educational journey to France, she devises a clever strategy to ensure his participation. By emphasizing Grif’s talent as a professional photographer, she persuades him that documenting the travels could significantly benefit his business.

Jenny arranges for the family and the group of American students to board an ocean liner, thanks to the dubious arrangements of travel agent Gilbert. However, their excitement soon fades when they discover their cramped living conditions onboard, which are compounded by a nerve-wracking emergency drill that leaves everyone feeling uneasy.

Upon their arrival in the romantic city of Paris, Jenny decides to split from Grif and the students, intending to head towards what she thinks is their hotel on the Riviera. To her surprise, she stumbles upon a stunning mansion owned by the affluent lawyer, Phillipe Maspere. Though she feels out of place, Jenny’s charisma and cleverness win her an invitation to stay longer at the estate, where she forms a bond with Phillipe and his devoted manservant.

Meanwhile, Grif’s interest grows for one of the American chaperones while in Paris. His world takes a turn when he sees a newspaper clipping of Jenny smiling back at him. Alarmed by the troubling image, Grif takes matters into his own hands. Driven by love and concern, he commandeers a stolen school bus, embarking on a reckless cross-country dash to find his wife.

Upon reaching Phillipe’s lavish estate, Grif’s emotions surge as he finds Jenny relaxing by the pool. His shock rapidly transforms into outrage, igniting a confrontation with Phillipe that spirals into a physical clash. In a comedic twist, Jenny chases after Grif atop the butler’s tricycle. However, their escape is abruptly interrupted by law enforcement, who have been informed about the stolen vehicle.

In a surreal turn of events, Jenny finds herself locked up alongside sex workers, who are eventually bailed out by their charming pimp and escorted to a plush hotel. Adding to the confusion, David unexpectedly arrives at the brothel, leaving his parents in utter disbelief. Through a series of absurd and chaotic circumstances, the family must navigate their way through this unimaginable scenario, leading them to ultimately reunite as they prepare for their journey home.
