Twenty-nine-year-old clothing importer Fran Goldman lives a comfortable life in London, having offered his fiancée everything—his heart, and a stylish two-bedroom penthouse in Kentish Town. Yet four weeks before their wedding, she calls it off. Instead of a solo honeymoon, Fran stays in the city, convinced that she’ll realize her mistake and come back. When he unexpectedly runs into her with her new boyfriend, any hope of reconciliation is crushed, and Fran is left to face the reality that the future he imagined might not include her at all.

He doesn’t have to navigate the aftermath alone, though. His sometimes neurotic friends, Ben and Jon, bring their own peculiarities to the situation. They seem to be living proof of the opposite of Fran’s predicament: their girlfriends are crazy about them, while the guys themselves feel lukewarm about their relationships. This imbalance spurs a collaborative, if not entirely selfless, effort to help Fran find someone new. What follows is a string of misfires and misadventures as the trio tests out a variety of schemes to meet women.

Their attempts range from bold and offbeat to awkwardly comic. There’s a memorable scene that has them knocking on the door of a rabbi’s house in a bid to scout for talent, and another miscommunication where two women they approach jump to the mistaken conclusion that the men are a same-sex couple. Each step along the way pushes Fran closer to rock bottom, forcing him to reevaluate what he truly wants from love, life, and the future he had imagined for himself.

As the days blur into late nights and late-night confidences, the question remains: will Fran ever find a real salvation, a second chance at happiness?
