Rose Hovick is determined to see her daughter June achieve Broadway fame through vaudeville. After June marries and departs, Rose redirects her ambitions toward her older daughter Louise, whose talent is less obvious. Rose’s plan for Louise to become a legitimate star is upended when Louise ends up headlining as a stripper at Minsky’s Burlesque, a direction Rose never envisioned.
