Gigi, Leslie Caron, unfolds in the romantic elegance of Belle Époque Paris, following the coming-of-age journey of a spirited teenage girl raised by her warm but modest grandmother Mamita, Isabel Jeans, and her formidable great-aunt Alicia, Hermione Gingold, who is determined to shape her into a sophisticated courtesan befitting Parisian high society. While Gigi spends her days learning etiquette, jewels, gowns, and the intricacies of social expectations, she remains refreshingly innocent and far more interested in fun, laughter, and mischief than in the transactional world she is being prepared for. Their close family friend Gaston Lachaille, Maurice Chevalier, a wealthy and famously bored Parisian playboy, frequently visits Mamita’s home to escape the artificiality of his elite social circle.
