Seventeen‑year‑old Frances, still head over heels for Moondoggy, convinces her parents to let her, two of her friends and two of his friends travel to Rome. Because an adult must accompany them, they bring Peter’s eccentric aunt. In the city they meet the stunning guide Daniela, who dazzles the boys and sparks Gidget’s jealousy. Amid the historic sights, comedic mishaps ensue as the teenage gang navigates romance and cultural clashes, prompting Gidget to start looking for love elsewhere.
