After a bank job, Joe Daylight, [Alex Nicol], leads an outlaw crew—The Kid [Steve Rowland], Doc [Dick Bentley], and Henri Verain [Phil Posner]—across the border into Mexico. They outrun the pursuing posse, and while they had planned to rendezvous later to split the loot, Daylight shocks the group by revealing he has used the cash to buy a hacienda: the grand Casa Grande. Although several of them protest, the gang agrees to follow Daylight to the ranch, where he brings in a mysterious Mexican gunfighter known as Viajero, [Jorge Mistral], a man with deep local ties who can help him pose as a legitimate hacienda owner and hidalgo.
On the estate, Daylight tries to play the role of a steady landowner while continuing his rustling scheme, hoping to keep the group together and maintain control. Viajero’s presence helps him blend into village life and navigate ranch politics, though the old plan to profit from cattle remains: the price of doing business across the border will be kept high, and the routine of ranch life will mask the illegal activity.
The two women Daylight’s crew encounter—Dona Maria de Castellar [Mercedes Alonso], and Pacesita [Manolita Barroso], Maria’s maid—become central to the newer life at Casa Grande. The Traveller and The Kid, drawn by affection, find themselves torn between loyalty to Daylight and a chance at something more human, even as romance quietly blooms in the shadow of the ranch.
Trouble arrives in the form of Rojo, the bull-headed bandit chief [Aldo Sambrell], whose cattle raids threaten the livelihoods of nearby ranchers. In response, the locals unite to drive Rojo and his men off their lands, a campaign that seems to restore order for a moment. Yet Daylight’s hold on Casa Grande remains unsettled, and pride, money, and pressure mount among the men.
The tensions erupt when Daylight shoots Doc, a betrayal that triggers a fatal chain reaction. The Traveller retaliates in a decisive moment, killing Daylight in turn. With their former leader gone and the dust settling, The Traveller and Maria decide to begin anew together on the Casa Grande, choosing a life away from the original plan but still within reach of a future built on trust and hard-won love.
