In Ooty, the daring pair Krishnamoorthy “Kicha” [Arjun Sarja] and his loyal sidekick Mani pull off a dazzling multi-crore heist, staying one step ahead of the police and slipping away along the scenic route of the Nilgiri Mountain Railway, much to the irate Inspector Azhagar Nambi. Their disguise and quick wit make the caper feel like a stylish, old‑school silhouette of crime, where every twist is a blend of charm and nerve, and the escape route becomes a character in its own right.

Back in Madras, Kicha presents a respectable face to the world, running a legitimate papadam business with Mani. Among his many employees is Susheela, Rohini (the voice) and Madhoo (on screen) in the mix, who quietly harbors a crush on him and often pushes for his attention. The mood shifts when Sugandhi, the cheerful cousin of Susheela, arrives to shake things up; she lights up the place with playful energy, especially during the lighthearted clashes that erupt between Mani and Babloo, played by Senthil. Sugandhi herself soon develops a fondness for Kicha after he rescues her from goons who threaten her safety.

Before leaving Madras, Sugandhi steals Kicha’s ring as a memento. The stolen trinket lands in the hands of a disgraced officer, Inspector Azhagar Nambi, who shaves his head and bears a ring mark on his face after a failed attempt to catch the thief. Nambi’s investigation centers on the ring’s mark, initially thought to be a Brahmin priests’ ceremonial design, but he soon realizes its meaning is far more ominous and tied to a mangala sutra rather than any sacred symbol. The detective’s pursuit intensifies as his parents urge him toward an arranged marriage with Sugandhi, a match that takes an unexpected turn when he learns the ring belongs to Kicha.

A trap is laid at Kicha’s home under the guise of a wedding dinner, and Nambi fires a shot that wounds Kicha in the hand, forcing a frantic escape with Mani. Susheela follows, confronting Kicha and accusing him of the crime, and when she threatens to take a drastic step, Kicha reaches into a powerful, almost painful honesty and reveals the truth about his past. He recounts a life shaped by injustice and loss: as a top student alongside his friend Ramesh, he is denied medical college seats despite high marks because of reservation and bribery, a betrayal that drives his mother and Ramesh toward suicide and steels his resolve to change the system.

With this memory fueling him, Kicha dedicates himself to building a college that will open doors for the deserving, regardless of income, caste, or religion. In the present, to finish the college and outsmart the police trap, he presses one last audacious heist against the Chief Minister, Rajan P Dev, and pulls it off. Yet the courtroom scene shifts the balance as Kicha’s testimony exposes the CM’s corruption, triggering a dramatic moment when a young man, enraged by the revelation, detonates a suicide blast that kills the CM in public. Six years pass, and Kicha and Mani, now free, return to complete their prison term and inaugurate the college they envisioned, sealing their complex legacy with a vision of education for all.
