A Respectable Life in Madras

Back in Madras, Kicha runs a legitimate papadam business with Mani and enjoys a reputation as a decent citizen. Susheela, one of his employees, harbors a crush on him and keeps asking for his attention. Sugandhi, Susheela's lively cousin, arrives and adds mischief, sparring playfully with Mani and Babloo.

Sugandhi Steals the Ring

Sugandhi steals Kicha's ring as a keepsake, triggering a frantic search to recover it. Inspector Azhagar Nambi, desperate to nab the thief, shaves his head after repeated failures and bears a ring-marked face as he pursues the case. He notices the ring's mark and begins to suspect it resembles a mangala sutra rather than a Brahmin priest's symbol.

Nambi digs into the ring design, trying to map it to known ceremonial symbols. He concludes the mark is not a Brahmin priest insignia but resembles a mangala sutra, deepening the mystery surrounding the thief. The pursuit tightens as the case threads toward Kicha.

Forced Marriage and Ring Discovery

Nambi's parents pressure him to marry Sugandhi, and through that arrangement he comes into possession of the very ring. He learns that the ring belongs to Kicha, providing a clear link between the investigation and the thief. This realization pushes him to set a trap for Kicha during a wedding at his house.

Wedding Dinner Trap and Shooting

Nambi plans to arrest Kicha at a wedding dinner hosted at Kicha's house, hoping the ring connection will seal the case. A shootout ensues, and Kicha is wounded in the hand but manages to escape with Mani. They retreat to their hideout, shaken but undeterred.

Susheela Confronts and Kicha's Revelation

Susheela tracks down the duo and confronts them, threatening to take her own life if Kicha won't come clean. In response, Kicha reveals his life story and the motive behind his crime: to fund an education system for the deserving. He narrates his past, including the hardships that shaped his resolve.

Kicha's Tragic Backstory

As a district-level topper, Kicha and his friend Ramesh are denied seats in medical college due to reservation and bribery. The loss drives their families to despair, with Kicha's mother and Ramesh's father taking their own lives. From that tragedy, Kicha vows to open a college that will give the deserving a chance.

Plan to Build a College and Fund It by Theft

In the present, Kicha dedicates himself to finishing a college and resorts to one final big theft to fund the last stages of construction. He targets the Chief Minister's coffers, executing the plan and succeeding in acquiring the money. However, Inspector Nambi is already closing in to arrest him.

Courtroom Showdown and the CM's Downfall

Inside the courtroom, Kicha pushes for the CM to appear and answer for his corruption, exposing the political rot to the public. Although the CM is let off in a controversial turn, a youth shocked by the proceedings detonates a suicide bomb that kills the CM. The blast reverberates through the city and reshapes the film's moral landscape.
