Claudia Kinkaid [Sally Prager] feels unappreciated at home in New Jersey, and she decides to run away with her younger brother Jamie Kincaid [Johnny Doran], slipping away to New York City. The siblings soon set their sights on the city’s famed treasure house, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where they plan to hide and survive on their wits for a while. Over several nights they navigate a world of quiet corridors and polished displays, sleeping in beds within the galleries, ducking past sleepy guards, and even washing up in the fountain as a makeshift bath. To stretch their meager funds, they cleverly lift coins from the fountain’s bottom and use them to feed themselves through vending machines, turning the museum into a strange, safe shelter away from home.
