Ten years after the twins discovered the cursed bagua mirror in Joy Ramirez’s old house, the mirror finds a new owner in a condo, and that new owner is horrified when she discovers her dead husband laid out on a stuffed tiger toy. His death, tied to his birth in the year of the Tiger, appears to be a cruel echo of the mirror’s sinister luck. The owner is urged to escape the unit by the spirits of her twin daughters, one of whom had shot her sister and father before killing herself. In a chilling reveal, she jumps from the terrace and lands on monkey bars, uncovering that she herself was born in the year of the Monkey.

Lester Añonuevo, a hustler living in a slum, robs himself of fear and greed by breaking into a Taoist temple to seize the bagua mirror, which has been kept safe by Hsui Liao on orders from Lotus Feet’s niece, who intends to repatriate the mirror to China. Even after he returns the artifact, the mirror stubbornly reappears at his house, turning luck in his favor and letting him settle debts with the loan shark Paulo by enabling him to repay for his motorcycle. That stroke of fortune continues when the loan shark, who had stared into the mirror, has a fatal accident with a hotdog cart. A wallet with a phone and an ATM card changes hands and paves the way for a dramatic reversal: Lester is able to move out of the slum and into an affluent estate as his absentee father, Robert, returns to his life. Before leaving the squalor, Lester glimpses the ghost of Lotus Feet, a reminder that the bagua’s curse survives. That night, tragedy strikes again when Ruby, Lester’s alcoholic mother, dies after ingesting rat poison, and her death reveals that she too was born in the year of the Rat. The weight of these losses drives Lester to destroy the mirror, even as the eerie force behind his luck continues to push back.

After Ruby’s funeral, trouble intensifies: a loan shark named Jack breaks into Lester’s house and confronts [Robert], and in the struggle, Robert is stabbed to death while Jack is killed with a fire extinguisher labeled “Red Rabbit.” Lester realizes that both Robert and Jack were born in the year of the Rabbit, further aligning the deaths with the mirror’s zodiac-based hauntings. The growing danger brings Joy Joy Ramirez, Lily Mendoza Lily Mendoza, and Hsui Liao back to Lester’s doorstep. Hsui Liao concludes that the Bagua is haunting Lester as well as its past owners, and that Lotus Feet’s dying attempt to pacify her aunt drew a second soul into the mirror’s grip, helping claim the victims of those who crossed Lester before.

Seeking an end to the terror, they discover the mirror has gone missing from Lester’s front yard. The chase leads them to Lily Mendoza, who locates the mirror but keeps it hidden from the group in the hope of restoring her good fortune. They then head to the home of Joy’s boyfriend Douglas, who shoots and injures Lester when he mistakes him for a burglar. Douglas proposes to Joy, but she refuses once she learns he has contemplated the bagua’s power. Realizing that the only way to end Lotus Feet’s curse is to destroy the bagua in a temple, Hsui Liao persuades Douglas to accompany him, Joy, and Lester to the temple.

Along the way, Lily and her housemaid are killed after they pull an electric cable connected to a dragon fountain, mistaking it for a buried gold, revealing Lily’s year of the Dragon. As the group nears the temple, tragedy escalates: Douglas is drawn into a brawl and mauled by residents; Hsui Liao looks into the mirror in the fray and is stabbed to death, his fall signified by the Drumbeat of the Pig year as he lands on a pile of chicharon. Lester himself is beaten and stabbed near dog cages, a grim symbol of his Year of the Dog. At last, Lester and Joy reach the temple and destroy the bagua together. In the moment of victory, Joy finds Lester dead at the temple door, revealing that the ghostly aid she felt had been Lester himself.

The post-credits scene adds one final, chilling twist: Ellen uploads a photo of the bagua mirror she received from Lester for sale, only for her taxi to be suddenly confronted by a truck bearing the phrase “Snake Island,” implying that she was born in the Year of the Snake. The lingering curse has claimed its final and most personal toll, leaving Joy to mourn and the living to reckon with the mirror’s dark legacy.
