Don’t Listen Echo Score Breakdown

Don’t Listen delivers a competent haunted‑house experience that leans more toward solid than groundbreaking. Critics praise its set design, sound editing and atmospheric tension, while several viewers note strong performances and a compelling visual palette. However, the narrative is frequently described as derivative, with some reviewers criticizing its reliance on genre clichés and limited character depth. The mixed feedback results in a respectable yet unremarkable standing for the film.

Our own 0–100 rating, built from five aspects: art, character, story, the sensory experience and how well a film rewatches.

  • Art & Craft 78

Artistic execution stands out through the film’s production design and sound work. Critics highlight the foreboding set pieces and precise editing, and viewers commend the striking cinematography and color palettes that heighten tension. Some note the derivative nature of visuals, but overall the technical craftsmanship is consistently praised, yielding a solid artistic rating.

  • Character & Emotion 65

Character work receives mixed reactions, with several reviewers praising nuanced performances and emotional resonance. Positive comments note strong chemistry among the family members and depth in the drama. Conversely, some critics find the acting uneven and the characters forgettable, especially in the subplot. The overall impression is modestly favorable but not uniformly strong.

  • Story & Flow 68

The narrative is generally engaging but frequently leans on familiar haunted‑house tropes. Reviewers commend the film’s serious tone, plot twists, and a climax that builds tension, while also noting clichés and a self‑pretentious edge. The story’s pacing is praised for its immediacy, yet some find the resolution predictable, leading to a mixed yet respectable storytelling score.

  • Sensory Experience 70

Sensory elements such as sound design and visual style receive largely positive remarks. Critics emphasize the unnerving editing, atmospheric score, and effective use of color to convey unease, while some viewers point to inconsistent dubbing and occasional generic sound cues. Overall, the sensory experience contributes significantly to the film’s tension and is viewed as a key strength.

  • Rewatch Factor 62

Rewatch potential is moderate; many viewers express enthusiasm for the film’s scares and atmospheric tension, suggesting a willingness to revisit. Positive remarks highlight lingering suspense and a memorable climax, while detractors cite generic elements and limited novelty that reduce incentive for multiple viewings. The balance yields a modestly appealing replay value.

Daniel Rodolfo Sancho and Sara Belén Fabra, who renovate and resell houses, move into a sprawling new home with their 8-year-old son Eric Lucas Blas. Eric is troubled by insomnia and hears voices that push him toward eerie crayon drawings. They bring in a psychologist Beatriz Arjona, who explains that the disturbances stem from a lack of stability, and expects him to settle down. Yet Eric produces a bloody branch, and while the psychologist drives home, a supernatural fly harasses her until she crashes into a tree and dies. The house is so large, and Eric’s bedroom so distant from his parents’ that they rely on walkie-talkies to stay in touch. Daniel discovers the home is infested with flies and struggles to eliminate them.
