The film centers on the Jadhav family, anchored by Makrand Jadhaw, Makarand Anaspure, a man who, after spending all his wealth, insists he has invented an auto part that could dramatically reduce fuel consumption. Yet, with a rural background and no formal education, his grand claim is often met with doubt and dismissed as wishful thinking, leaving him and his family navigating a world that questions every step he takes.

Beside him stands Suryabhan Jadhaw, Shivaji Satham, Makrand’s stern father, who never misses a chance to blame his son for past losses and unsettled land. His distrust adds constant tension to the family’s fragile hopes, framing the struggle as not just financial but emotional as well. Sumti, Medha Manjrekar, Makrand’s humble second wife, tries to keep the peace and ground the family when dreams collide with harsh reality. Dhanaji, Siddharth Jadhav, Makrand’s petty thief brother-in-law, drifts in and out of trouble, often pulling the family into schemes that oscillate between mischief and misfortune. Sayali and Kisna are Makrand’s children; Sayali carries a bright passion for dance, while Kisna longs to become a wrestler, each dreaming of a different future.

A golden opportunity arrives when Sayali makes it to the final round of a high-stakes dance competition with a prize that could change everything for the family. Desperate to seize the moment, they scrape together the last resources and set off for Mumbai. Since railroad tickets are unavailable, Dhanaji arranges a rickshaw to carry them toward the city’s glittering stage. On the road, a sharp turn of fate interrupts their plan: the police stop them and reveal that Dhanaji actually stole the rickshaw and tied the driver to a tree. To save his family from arrest, Makrand lunges and seizes the officer’s gun, holding him at gunpoint until the officer reluctantly agrees to let them go, provided they appear at the police station after their mission is complete.

The journey grows more arduous as the rickshaw’s clutch plate fails, forcing the family to push-start it every time they need to move. In one exhausting moment, Kisna collapses from exhaustion and later learns that he suffers from asthma. Overcome by shame, he bolts from the vehicle, declaring he will not wrestle. Sumti rebukes him with a firm hand, urging him to face his weakness rather than run from it. During a night halt, the musicians who have traveled with them depart in a flame of frustration over unpaid dues, leaving the family with a hollow silence that weighs on everyone.

In a tense exchange, Makrand first blames Dhanaji and Sumti for the mounting troubles, only to recognize his own role in the mounting crisis and seek forgiveness. But just when the family seems to find a rhythm again, a new catastrophe hits: Suryabhan falls victim to a heart attack on the road. He is rushed to a hospital, where doctors reveal that he has slipped into a coma, the result of years of heavy drinking. Rather than give in to despair, the family resolves to press on toward Mumbai, determined to keep pushing forward for Sayali’s chance at glory.

Upon reaching Mumbai, a mishap shakes the group at the last moment: Dhanaji accidentally damages the harmonium belonging to the musician accompanying them. Makrand and Kisna, watching the fierce competition from the wings, worry about Sayali’s chances and try to dissuade her from competing, fearing the family’s precarious finances. Yet the makeup artist on set urges them to back Sayali and believe in her talent. Meanwhile, Suryabhan awakens from his coma and, fueled by the family’s stubborn hope, escapes the hospital to reunite with his loved ones.

Sayali takes the stage, delivering a performance that earns a thunderous standing ovation and finishes in third place, a moment that fills the family with pride and relief. When they return home, Makrand is stunned to learn that a client who claimed to have invented his auto part has copied the design and marketed it as his own. Dhanaji admits that he had sold the part to raise money for a new harmonium, a confession that prompts a painful family quarrel but also a deeper understanding of each other’s motives. Makrand eventually forgives Dhanaji, recognizing that his actions, however flawed, came from a desire to protect Sayali’s dreams and their family’s future, and vows to start life anew.

In a brilliant turn of fate, a friend named Amar reveals that the client had patented the invention six months earlier in Makrand’s name. TV notices and patent documents confirm Makrand as the true inventor, leaving the client facing royalty payments of Rs 1 crore. The revelation brings a wave of relief and joy to the Jadhav family as they prepare to embrace a fresh start, the camera pulling back on a hopeful, triumphant note as the credits roll.
