Stefan Radetzky, a Polish fighter pilot and concert pianist, is hospitalized after combat wounds cause amnesia. While playing piano, it flashes back to Warsaw, where in an air raid he meets journalist Carole and is attracted. After Poland’s fall, Radetzky and Mike flee to Romania and America, where he revives his career and reunites with Carole.
