At the Nakata auto dealership, Ken’s life takes a new turn as he adapts to a salesman’s routine and develops feelings for the shop’s owner, Aya. Yet the business is near eviction, as the local mob pressures the owners to vacate the site for redevelopment. The mob’s reach is palpable, and Ken’s moral compass is tested as he confronts Mr. Nara, the mob boss who remains resolute in his plans. Fujiwara, a former Kurosaki student turned mob recruit, reappears in the scene, and Ryohei’s ties to the underworld become clearer through Ken’s uneasy disclosures. Ken also learns that Ryohei’s father belonged to the same world, which compounds the sense that Ryohei is being groomed to inherit the family’s position.

A quiet walk to the cemetery with his mother reveals a painful backstory: Kazeo’s father was a professional boxer who died due to injuries sustained in the ring, and his mother’s struggle with drinking and gambling adds another layer to Kazeo’s guarded and wary nature. The next day, Ken encounters Kazeo again at Suzuran, and the pair trade stories about their shared past at the school, revealing how the pasts of veterans and newcomers intersect to shape present decisions. Fujiwara is dispatched to harass the Nakata shop as part of a broader scheme to destabilize the area, and he fans flames between Kurosaki and Suzuran as revenge for an old grievance with Shibata.

Goura learns of the links between Ryohei and Fujiwara and becomes the center of a growing conflict, but a Kurosaki student strikes him down, leaving him wounded and forced to retreat. Shibata confronts Fujiwara, but the confrontation ends with Shibata’s arm broken and the sense that the feud will not be resolved easily.
