Joey Dredge [Daniel Kellie] is still grappling with the shock of his father’s death and the guilt from a reckless rooftop escape that led to his expulsion from school. After the incident, his mother, Hilary Dredge [Susan Lyons] decides to take him to her parents’ suburban home for the Christmas holidays. She brings along her new boyfriend, Bruno [Peter Rowsthorn], and Bruno’s son, Angus [Christopher Chapman], both of whom Joey resents, sensing a threat to the fragile routines he’s trying to cling to.
