Check out what happened in Corky Romano!
In a shocking turn of events, veterinary technician Corky Romano (Chris Kattan), who had been ostracized from his family following the passing of his mother, is suddenly thrust back into their midst when his father "Pops" (Peter Falk) - a notorious Mafia crime lord - reaches out to him. Indicted on racketeering charges and acutely aware of the overwhelming evidence against him, Pops has concluded that the only viable solution lies in destroying the FBI's evidence.
At the family mansion, where Pops is confined to his bed, he convinces Corky to infiltrate the local FBI office, exploiting the fact that no one with known underworld connections can be sent on a mission for the Romano family. With the assistance of a skilled computer hacker, Corky acquires a false identity, "Agent Corky Pissant," and gains access to the building. Here, he meets with office chief Howard Schuster (Richard Roundtree), who informs him that according to his fabricated résumé, "Pissant" graduated from Harvard, speaks five different languages, is an expert sharpshooter, and possesses extensive martial arts training.
Corky makes several trips to the evidence room, only to be sidetracked each time. He is dispatched on investigations and raids, with multiple assignments tied to the notorious Night Vulture, a heroin trafficker who sits at number six on the FBI's Most Wanted List. Corky's repeated blunders inadvertently solve the problem at hand, leading his colleagues at the FBI to assume he has developed intricate strategies. He receives praise at the office and in the local media, although Agent Brick Davis (Matthew Glave) remains jealous and suspicious.
As Corky navigates this complex world, he begins to develop feelings for FBI agent Kate Russo (Vinessa Shaw), but she appears uninterested until they coincidentally run into each other at the Romano mansion. Here, Russo has been sent undercover to gather more evidence against the family. Corky convinces her that he is also working undercover and befriends agents Bob Cox (Roger Fan) and Terrence Darnell (Dave Sheridan). Cox and Darnell are subsequently captured while attempting to infiltrate one of Pops' underground casinos. Corky springs into action, rescuing his friends but being caught in the process by the bouncers; revealed as a member of the Romano family, he asks them to spare his friends' lives.
As Corky's fingers delve into the sensitive documents, he uncovers a bombshell that shatters the veneer of his unsuspecting life: Pops' impending doom, accused of taking multiple lives. The revelation sends him reeling, prompting an urgent confrontation with his father, who vehemently protests his innocence. In a bid to uncover the truth, Corky delves into the family's storied past, rifling through photo albums and exposing a shocking secret - he is not an FBI agent, but rather a Romano by blood. The FBI office descends upon the Romano mansion like a storm cloud, only to reveal that family friend Leo Corrigan (Fred Ward) has been covertly feeding them misinformation about the family's nefarious activities, including the alleged murder. Furthermore, the true identity of the notorious Night Vulture is unmasked: Brick Davis, a seemingly ordinary agent. Corky seizes an opportunity to strike back, rendering Leo insensate with a light fixture, while Davis meets his downfall at the hands of his own colleagues.
In the aftermath, Corky and Russo tie the knot, their love strong enough to weather any storm. As they drive off into the sunset in Corky's radiant orange Mazda Miata, he earns the admiration and affection of his entire family. Back at the veterinary clinic where it all began, Corky's former boss finally hangs up his apron, bestowing upon him the keys to the business - a testament to Corky's growth and newfound sense of purpose.
