Charro! 1969

Jess Wade Elvis Presley, a former member of a gang led by Vince Hackett Victor French, is lured into a trap when he hears that an old flame, Tracey Winters Ina Balin, wants to meet him in a seedy Mexican saloon. He spots Billy Roy Hackett Solomon Sturges, Vince’s younger brother, summoning the rest of the gang into the room, and instantly realizes he’s been set up. Jess tries to head for the door, but a fellow gang member named Gunner James B. Sikking enters, stops him, and forces him to surrender his gun to the group as they escort him away to their hideout in the mountains.

Vince explains that the gang has stolen a gold-plated cannon that was used by Emperor Maximilian in his ill-fated fight against Benito Juárez. He also reveals that a wanted poster has been issued, naming Jess as part of the gang that stole the cannon and claiming he bears a neck wound from a guard’s bullet. The men subdue him on the ground and brand his neck with a hot iron, marking him as one of their own.

The gang takes his horse, leaving him stranded in the harsh landscape. He manages to capture a wild horse in the desert and saddle-breaks it, using grit and skill to survive the open, unforgiving terrain. With the cannon as their leverage, the thieves aim to extort money from the town they robbed, threatening the wary townspeople to secure payment and keep the authorities at bay. Throughout it all, a lone resolve grows in Jess: only he can stand against the gang and free the people from their coercive hold.

In the end, the story centers on a man attempting to reconcile his past with a chance to protect innocent lives, using grit, resourcefulness, and a stubborn will to outsmart a violent group and bring the town back from the brink.
