Edison, a laid‑back surfer and struggling inventor, can’t make ends meet until he crosses paths with billionaire Armand McMillian, who becomes fascinated with the young dreamer. Upon Armand’s death he leaves his high‑tech company to Edison, while his nephew Bradford receives only a surfboard. With the help of attractive Natalie, Edison runs the firm successfully, but Bradford plots to sabotage him and seize control.

Edison, Carrot Top, is a poor, failed inventor and surf bum who has spent his rent money on another fruitless creation. Facing eviction from his short-tempered landlady Ms. Krubavitch Estelle Harris, he is pressed by his roommates Mystro Clark as Ty and Jack Plotnick as Zak to find steady work. After bouncing between a string of dead-end gigs, Edison crosses paths with a wealthy magnate, Armand McMillan, whose car breaks down on the roadside. Edison uses his inventions to assist Armand, and the pair strike up a friendship—bonding over a shared love of surfing as they ride the waves together.
