In the charming Cornish village where surf instructor JC and his long-term partner Chloe reside, a series of unexpected events trigger a tumultuous wave that threatens their relationship. The arrival of JC’s old friends from London, including the groom-to-be Terry, along with his rowdy comrades, stirs up a mixture of nostalgia and temptation. As they settle into the village, tensions simmer just below the surface, building toward a potential eruption of conflict.

Chloe, with her pragmatic outlook, is determined to secure their future by purchasing the surf-shack café where they both work, while JC’s heart is set on dreaming about traveling the world with her. Meanwhile, his friends are eager to draw him back into their chaotic lifestyle, prompting a clash of desires. In an attempt to “liven up” Terry, who is depicted as the “kidnapped” groom-to-be, Dean takes it upon himself to disrupt the delicate balance, much to Chloe’s dismay.

As night falls, a vibrant rave, orchestrated by Chloe, serves as the stage for an array of events that will irrevocably change their lives. Dean seizes the opportunity amid the chaos, attempting to convince JC to surf the perilous reef known as “The Boneyard,” under the pretense that it could jumpstart his dream career in journalism. Despite the pressure, JC firmly declines, haunted by memories of a previous attempt a decade earlier when he was younger and spryer.

Refusing to relent, Dean orchestrates media coverage for his ill-fated endeavor to conquer the reef. When his attempt ends in disaster, with a massive wave sending him crashing into a rock, JC is jolted into action, diving in to save his friend while simultaneously riding the treacherous waves. Through this courageous act, JC not only rescues Dean but also inadvertently secures his own future in journalism.

However, the local guru does not take kindly to Dean’s reckless actions and delivers a swift, decisive blow, knocking him unconscious and leaving a haze of chaos in the aftermath. As tensions rise, JC’s friendships and commitment to Chloe are put to the ultimate test.

Amidst the swirling turmoil of their social circle, Terry, previously manipulated by Dean into donning a flashy silver coat and dancing awkwardly on the rave platform under the influence of drugs, undergoes a significant transformation. Gaining a newfound self-awareness, he chooses to make a meaningful gesture for JC and Chloe, gifting them round-the-world tickets. However, instead of embarking on a journey of adventure with Chloe, JC opts for a different route, using the unexpected windfall to purchase the surf-shack café, thus prioritizing the strength of their bond over the fleeting allure of his friends’ admiration.
