An aspiring painter named Dustin Pennett Dustin Pennett is on a search for love, sex, and inspiration when he meets a woman named Christiane Christiane at an art gallery. They share a magnetic, spontaneous night together at her apartment, but by morning she has vanished, leaving Dustin with a hollow ache and questions he cannot yet answer. He travels to Southern California to visit her family home, hoping for clues, only to discover from Christiane’s younger sister that Christiane fled years earlier after an abortion. The moment is underscored by a startling truth: Christiane’s apartment was really a display room she had broken into, not a private space of her own. The revelation unsettles Dustin, but it also fuels a stubborn fixation on the person he believes he truly loves.
