In the heart of a wintry New York City, during the bustling Christmas season, Maggie O’Connor, a dedicated and compassionate psychiatric nurse, finds her life turned upside down when her troubled sister, Jenna—a heroin addict—leaves behind her newborn daughter, Cody, on Maggie’s doorstep. Determined to embrace her new role as a mother, Maggie pours her heart into raising Cody, but soon starts to notice strange signs that suggest Cody might be on the autism spectrum. Driven by her instincts as a caregiver, Maggie decides to explore her concerns further, challenging conventional wisdom on diagnosis. At the same time, Cody’s early years are marked by astonishing telekinetic feats, which leave the nuns at her special-needs Catholic school in Brooklyn both astounded and wary.
