Dhanraj, Pran Sikand, a hardworking man, discovers a painful truth: Hira Seth, Ranjeet Bedi, the man he works for, has impregnated his sister, whom he had sent to work as domestic help in the businessman’s home. When Dhanraj confronts Hira Seth, the latter refuses to acknowledge the child, and his sister dies by suicide. After this betrayal, Dhanraj is fired, and Hira Seth vows to ruin him, promising that the former will never find a job in town again.
Some time later, pressed by hunger and the need to feed his wife, two sons, and a daughter, Dhanraj leads his family to a beach with a desperate plan to poison them and end his life. A young boy snatches the poison-laced food and runs; Dhanraj gives chase, but the food spills in the scuffle. At that very spot, he discovers a wallet containing a lottery ticket and a newspaper cutout that hints at a huge win. Reading the signals as a good omen, he returns with the boy to his family and introduces the child to the others as their new brother, Amar, Govinda.
Years pass, and Dhanraj emerges as a successful medicine manufacturer. His eldest son Vishwas works in the company, while Kishen studies in college and harbors a secret love for Radha, who is Hira’s daughter. Renu, Aruna Irani — the widow of an Air Force pilot killed in action — lives with them along with her daughter, choosing not to return to her in-laws for fear of being chided. Amar, meanwhile, has grown into a capable police inspector, his presence a steady thread through the family.
Circumstances push Amar to leave the household with his wife Geeta, Juhi Chawla Mehta, a thief with a golden heart who has reformed. This departure tests Dhanraj’s luck, and the once-dominant fortune he built begins to waver. The family faces mounting challenges as loyalties shift and past mistakes resurface, leaving each member to confront decisions that could redefine their lives.
As the years unfold, the tension between duty, love, and justice takes center stage, weaving a complex portrait of a family trying to weather misfortune, while the memory of that fateful beach day lingers in the background. Will the scars of the past ease, or will they continue to shape the destinies of Dhanraj and his children? The story remains rooted in resilience, sacrifice, and the uncertain promise of a better tomorrow.
