His fate intertwines with Daric Loo, the senior valedictorian and club president, who introduces Ben to an underground scheme involving the mass creation and selling of cheat sheets to classmates. As the operation expands, Ben enlists Virgil and Han into the hustle, leading the four to accumulate a small fortune.

As Ben’s feelings for Stephanie deepen, he faces competition from Steve Choe, a private school student and Stephanie’s boyfriend. When Steve discovers Ben’s crush, he uses it to his advantage, compelling Ben to escort Stephanie to the Winter Formal in exchange for his silence. As the group’s illegal activities escalate, plunging into the theft of computer parts and distribution of drugs, Ben finds himself wrapped tighter in their unlawful embrace.

In the aftermath of their horrific act, the group hatches a plan to conceal Steve’s body in Jesus’s backyard for a payment of $300. Unbeknownst to them, Steve is not truly dead. As he begins to show signs of life, Daric seizes the moment to ensure his silence, with Virgil helplessly holding him back as Daric suffocates Steve using a gasoline-soaked rag.

The next day, as they attempt to resume normalcy, Ben and Virgil are confronted by the horrifying reminder of their crime when Steve’s phone rings, echoing hauntingly from the backyard.
