Prakash Raj plays Bheeshma Narayan, a devout religious guru and martial-arts master who selects Badri, a shepherd’s son, and trains him to become a capable samurai and the temple’s protector. Badri, portrayed by Allu Arjun as Badrinath, grows into a fearless guardian entrusted with safeguarding the sacred Badrinath Temple. He soon crosses paths with Tamannaah Bhatia as Alakananda, an atheist woman whom he first confronts after she accidentally clashes with temple rituals, a consequence that begins with her lamp-burning act and is tempered by the mercy she garners when her ill grandfather is aided. After a tense clash, Bheeshma orders Badri to rescue her, a mission that unfolds as he cures her grandfather and earns her a renewed sense of faith. Alakananda eventually lights 1 lakh lamps as a penitence, a任务 Badri helps her complete with genuine devotion, reinforcing a fragile bond between them.

Alakananda’s grandfather reveals that her atheism stems from witnessing a temple fire that claimed her parents’ lives, and she endures the scorn of her aunt, who schemes to force a marriage with her own son, Nani, as an act of revenge. Badri takes up the challenge to rekindle her belief, and she slowly becomes drawn to him after he performs a sacred Pind Daan for her parents, an act that softens her heart and deepens their connection.

The story widens as Badri is summoned by Bheeshma to protect the Amarnath Temple, where the guardian has fallen. In a display of prowess, Badri kills a group of terrorists with his sword, and his heroism is publicly announced, marking him as a chosen successor in Bheeshma’s eyes. With Alakananda’s faith revived, she meets Badri’s parents, and discussions of marriage begin, even as a looming dilemma surfaces: Bheeshma insists that Badri must remain celibate to succeed him, testing the young lovers’ resolve and precipitating a difficult choice.

Despite the obstacles, Badri vows to help Alakananda unite with the man she loves, even if that man might be him in disguise, by guiding her to offer a Brahma lotus. Their journey takes them into the mountains, drawing Sarkar’s ruthless nephew and others into motion. Sarkar, whose schemes are exposed through Amarnath temple footage, dispatches his forces to capture Alakananda, forcing Badri to race against time to protect her and fulfill his promise. The pursuit leads to a tense sequence at the river and temple, where Alakananda’s demand to claim Badri as her lover collides with Bheeshma’s demand that Badri become his successor.

The tension peaks as Alakananda and Badri glimpse the truth of their feelings, but tragedy strikes when Nani’s schemes erupt—Badri is accused of harboring love for Alakananda, the temple is briefly closed, and Badri must endure the aftermath of a brutal assault that leaves him gravely wounded. In a dramatic turn, Sarkar and his henchmen destroy the ashram, and Badri mounts a daring rescue at Bellary railway station, impaling Nani and pulling Alakananda to safety. The sight of the ruined ashram and the sword meant for sacred duty drives Bheeshma to order Badri to leave Badrinath, reshaping the couple’s fate as Alakananda thanks God for her liberation from his mentor’s strict control.

Yet love persists. Alakananda reveals she loves Badri, and Bheeshma, moved by her devotion, urges Badri to live for her. In a decisive duel, Badri defeats Sarkar, sparing him only on the condition that he swear never to pursue Alakananda again. With the temple’s blessing, the lovers prepare for a life together, but not before a final promise—to hand over their future child for training—echoes the film’s enduring theme: the balance between duty, devotion, and desire.
