Arjun 2004

Arjun and his twin sister Meenakshi finish college, and their parents decide to look for a good man to marry her. Meenakshi shows Arjun a letter from their friend Uday, who confesses his love for her and asks her to elope, since his parents, Bala Nayakar and Andal, are arranging his marriage to another girl. Meenakshi makes it clear that she, too, is interested in Uday.

Arjun travels to Madurai, where Uday lives with his family, and he tells Uday’s parents about the letter, seeking their consent for Meenakshi’s marriage. Uday dares to marry Meenakshi before the official approval arrives, and his parents agree to the match, though they have their own hidden plans in mind. Uday’s parents also make a complicated decision, agreeing to Meenakshi as their daughter-in-law even as they pursue other intentions.

Meanwhile, Arjun meets Roopa, Roopa, who is also from Madurai, and the two of them fall for each other, adding a new layer to the growing tension around Meenakshi’s future. Back at Meenakshi’s house, Uday’s parents hatch a dangerous scheme to kill Meenakshi in order to secure a fortune tied to the arranged marriage. They stage multiple attempts on her life, but Meenakshi somehow survives each time.

Arjun starts to suspect that the threats are aimed at his sister, yet Uday and Meenakshi remain wary of his claims. The turning point comes when Meenakshi is attacked again while Uday is away, and she believes Arjun’s warnings only after the danger closes in on her. She escapes with Arjun and Roopa’s help, and, in the aftermath, Meenakshi gives birth to twins. In the ensuing struggle, Bala Nayakar dies and Andal loses the use of her legs, a blow that leaves the family shaken.

Witnessing the dangers that surrounded Meenakshi, Uday comes to accept Arjun’s version of events. The truth behind the conspiracy becomes clear, and the siblings, along with Roopa and their allies, find a path to reconciliation. In the end, the family moves toward a peaceful ordinary life, their bonds strengthened by the trials they faced and the love that endured through the danger.
