In a rural village where caste lines shape every interaction, Krishna, Karthik Rathnam, is a young electrician from a lower caste who clings to a hopeful dream of a brighter future—perhaps a job in Dubai that could lift his family out of hardship. He harbors a quiet, long-standing love for Pushpa, Krishnapriya, the daughter of a prominent figure and former Naxalite leader, Ramanna, who belongs to a higher caste. For years, Krishna keeps his feelings to himself; when the moment comes to tell Pushpa how he feels before he leaves for overseas work, a seemingly simple act or a misinterpretation surrounding his confession sparks a tinderbox.

What begins as a personal romance soon escalates into village-wide turmoil. Caste identities intersect with local politics and rivalries, and tensions are stoked by influential figures, including Subhalekha Sudhakar’s character, turning a private heartbreak into public chaos. The “unwritten constitution” of caste in this village—the informal rules that govern whom one can marry, trust, or challenge—quickly overrides formal law. As riots erupt and communities clash, families of Krishna and Pushpa, along with the police, find themselves dragged into a crisis that seems to have no easy solution.

Ramanna, a man with a public stance against the caste system, becomes a focal point of the turmoil. He is torn between his personal ideology and the stubborn realities of caste loyalties that run through his own circle, complicating loyalties and decisions at every turn. The narrative follows how these pressures ripple outward, threatening friendships, triggering reprisals, and pulling in neighbors, elders, and authorities into an escalating cycle of violence and fear.

The film does not shy away from the tragic cost of such rigid social codes. In the end, Pushpa falls victim to an honor killing, a brutal outcome that starkly illustrates the irreversible consequences of defying caste boundaries in rural life. Krishna is left to face the consequences of the act that set everything in motion, grappling with guilt, loss, and a community strained beyond repair as order collapses around him. The movie closes on a somber note, reflecting on how a single declaration of love can expose fragile lives to a merciless system and leave a community to confront the aftermath of its own entrenched beliefs.
