While traveling alone through a dense forest, Annie suffers a serious accident. Shamu, a former medical student, stumbles upon her and carries her to his camp, where he changes her dressing, cleans the wounds, and lets her rest in the shelter of his tent. He dedicates himself to her care, tending to every ache and vigilantly watching over her recovery. As days pass, Annie regains her strength, and a quiet, growing bond begins to form between them, framed by the calm of the wilderness and the gentleness of his attention.

When Annie’s family pressures her to marry Roy, she finds herself torn between duty and a deeper, unspoken connection with the man who saved her. She cannot forget Shamu, and in a decisive moment she returns to the forest camp, only to discover it abandoned and still. A new invitation arrives—Roy invites Annie to a movie—but a call from a phone booth brings her back to Shamu, and they reconnect in a private conversation that rekindles their mutual pull. Roy follows, pressing Shamu to end his involvement with Annie.

In a moment of candor, Shamu reveals his past life and the tragedy that shaped him: his wife Leelu, who endured a terrible trauma and a mental collapse following a rape, was eventually married to him and bore a child. Leelu’s condition worsened under pressure and she was admitted to a mental hospital. Annie, moved by his history, confesses her love and visits Leelu in the hospital. The two lovers then share a trip together, and their relationship deepens to the point of consummation, with Shamu promising marriage to Annie.

Returning home, Shamu learns that Leelu’s illness had been temporarily cured after a fall, a revelation that puts him in a difficult dilemma. Leelu herself urges him to consider marrying Annie as well, complicating his sense of duty and affection. The truth about Leelu’s past is brought fully to light: Roy was the man who raped Leelu, a revelation that shards the fragile balance of loyalties that had held the trio together.

The story builds to a climactic confrontation between Shamu and Roy. They clash in a tense, physical struggle, but the confrontation ends tragically as Roy and Leelu plunge from a height into a waterfall, dying in the fall. In the aftermath, Shamu must reckon with the intertwined fates of love, trauma, and reconciliation, while Annie stands beside him, facing the long, uncertain road ahead.
