Agilan is a container crane operator at Chennai Port who also moves through the shadows of crime, working for the drug smuggler Paranthaman who answers to the ruthless kingpin, Kapoor. Kapoor oversees the smuggling of containers filled with counterfeit and genuine money, and Agilan’s street‑wise skills keep the operation running even as danger looms over every shipment.

When officer Sarangan stirs trouble by assigning a new counterfeit money run, Agilan eliminates the obstacle and his men hide the body in a body bag. The disruption catches the eye of the union’s stern leader, Jananadhan, who grows furious with Agilan’s activities and threatens to expel him from the union. Yet Agilan remains calm, biding his time as the power dynamics at the port tighten around him.

The plot thickens as Paranthaman orders Agilan to wipe out three temporary workers who were supposed to assist in killing the union head. The trio seek refuge at a police station run by SI Madhavi, who also secretly collaborates with Agilan. With Madhavi’s help, the three workers are arrested under a non‑bailable case, buying Agilan a bit more room to maneuver. An equally risky move involves breaking out a container that holds Chinese weapons; though Agilan secures the containers, Paranthaman’s goon, Pasupathy, regains control. Suspicion grows, and Madhavi is tasked with shadowing the two mysterious men behind the scheme—only to reveal they answer to NIA officer Gokul.

Gokul installs surveillance and a security scanner at the port as Kapoor doubles down on human trafficking. His first target is an Austrian cyberterrorist, [George Adams], whose data could destabilize global leaders. The clock is ticking, and Agilan warns that continuing the plan will mean certain death for the conspirators. The mission proceeds with a chilling ingenuity: Adams is kept alive by supplying him with oxygen and disguised as a mannequin, allowing the trafficking to go forward and lifting Agilan into the position of a feared king of the Indian Ocean.

Paranthaman’s men shadow Agilan, and they ally with Somalian sailors to sail a charity ship called Tamilannai. At the same time, Arasu captures Jananathan on orders from Paranthaman, tightening the net around Agilan. A confrontation leaves Agilan knocked out, forcing a dramatic flashback that reveals his past. The story shifts to a younger Agilan, who grows up under the care of prison inmates after his father’s betrayal; his father, Nandhan, a marine engineer, uncovers illicit cargo aboard Tamilannai—an event that shapes Agilan’s present. Dilli, a gangster, and Manoj Kumar, the ship’s captain, collude to smuggle cocaine, and Nandhan’s wife Punitha, played by Punitha (Tanya Ravichandran), urges him to take the vessel toward feeding two million hungry Indians, even as murder and betrayal unfold. Nandhan is killed, Punitha is arrested on false charges and dies giving birth to Agilan in prison.

Back in the present, Agilan explains to Gokul that Jananadhan taught him how to govern Tamilannai, and that the African sailors are the right crew to steer it. The truth surfaces when Jananadhan’s body is found, and Paranthaman proclaims that Agilan killed him. Madhavi reappears with the three workers, and the people realize Paranthaman was responsible for Jananadhan’s death. A public outcry forces Paranthaman to flee as Nallaperumal and Kapoor join forces to halt Tamilannai’s voyage. Kapoor hires the ruthless Eastern Sea pirates, but Agilan fights them off, and Pasupathy is defeated. Adams ultimately surrenders to Germany, and Gokul arrests Kapoor.

In a brutal twist, Nallaperumal overpowers Gokul and tries to destroy Tamilannai’s cargo. Agilan and Madhavi confront the deception, and the African sailors reveal that the containers were switched, saving Tamilannai from a catastrophic failure. Gokul survives and exposes Nallaperumal’s true nature, and the villain dies when a swinging ship’s rope ends his life. The police arrest Agilan, and Tamilannai sails once more, finally fulfilling his mother’s quiet, enduring wish.
