In 1989, Ponni keerthy-suresh, a diligent police constable, dedicates herself to giving her daughter Dhanam a solid education and a chance at a responsible life. Her husband, Maari kanna-ravi, works in the mill and dreams of breaking free from the village’s rampant caste constraints and poverty by entering local politics. A clash with a mill owner’s relative triggers trouble, and Maari is fired. When he returns the next day to apologize and try to get his job back, Perumal, the mill owner, and his relatives—driven by stubborn casteism and misogyny—humiliate him and demean Ponni.

In retaliation, Maari strikes back, humiliating them in return. The owners’ side responds with a savage act: they burn Ponni’s house while she, Maari, and Dhanam sleep inside. They sexually assault Ponni after her superior officer, Deva vinodh-munna, lures her to them under false pretenses. They spare Ponni’s life because she is a policewoman, fearing the legal fallout that could follow her death. Ponni’s quest for justice is met with influence-wielding culprits who receive only a minor sentence, a miscarriage of justice that steels her resolve.

Driven by a vow of vengeance, Ponni teams up with her half-brother, Sangaiah selvaraghavan, with whom she had drifted apart after a past conflict between their mothers. They reconcile as they share the trauma of Dhanam’s fate and the parallel pain in their own histories. The alliance marks a turning point as they begin to close in on the men who wronged them.

The chase leads them to Rani lizzie-antony in an abandoned building, where Ponni executes her plan of justice. She uncovers the locations of the remaining culprits and the duo systematically dismantles their ranks. They torture Anbu r-k-vijaimurugan and eliminate him; Perumal’s younger brother, Giri aadukalam-murugadoss, is pursued through a web of violence, and he dies in the confrontations. Perumal himself faces the consequences of a long-standing inheritance dispute, while his blind son Sudalai—a figure Ponni and Sangayya knew from Dhanam’s world—survives the turmoil.

As the pursuit intensifies, Ponni and Sangayya track down additional hideouts and plan their next move. Sudalai is placed in a precarious position, and the plan hinges on protecting him as a last remaining heir to the mill’s legacy. In a dramatic turn, Sangayya sacrifices himself by blowing up a van loaded with gas cylinders, destroying reinforcements and taking down Giri, a blow that leaves Ponni heartbroken yet victorious in her quest for revenge. The siege ends with Ponni securing Sudalai’s safety and reflecting on the cost of vengeance.

In the aftermath, the truth about Sudalai’s innocence comes to light, revealing that he was not involved in the night’s assault. Ponni, bearing the weight of her actions and the losses she endured, steps forward with Sudalai, carrying a hard-won sense of closure and a renewed sense of purpose as she continues her life beyond the flames of vengeance.
