A Ziegfeld Midnight Frolic (1929): Cast

A straightforward filmed performance starring Eddie Cantor in his stage minstrel makeup, presented as if recorded at the Ziegfeld Theatre Roof Garden. In reality the footage was shot on a soundstage at Paramount’s Astoria studio, reflecting the early‑20th‑century practice of staging variety acts for film. The short clip captures the energy of his live act while adhering to the production constraints of the era.
