In August 1936, as the Spanish Civil War began, the Claretian community of Barbastro (Huesca) faced persecution. Fifty-one members were martyred and ultimately executed. The film portrays the harrowing final weeks of their lives, from their imprisonment to their tragic deaths. Throughout their confinement, they documented their experiences and observations of their fellow captives and those around them. These writings serve as the foundation for this film adaptation, offering a powerful testament to their faith and resilience.
