
Rookie officer Boomer patrols the gritty streets of downtown Chicago. A drug bust that kills his mentor Carlos leaves him disillusioned, so he resigns and plans to return to Joliet, where his fiancée Kelly waits. En route, he stops to aid a stranded motorist, is knocked unconscious, awakens robbed and thrust into a perilous case of mistaken identity.
