Fred Zinnemann

Fred Zinnemann, born Alfred Zinnemann on April 29, 1907, was an acclaimed Austrian-American film director and producer. Zinnemann initially began his career in Europe before moving to the United States, where he directed 25 feature films. Known for his avant-garde approach, he was one of the early pioneers who insisted on using authentic locations and a mix of stars and non-professional actors to bring added realism to his films.
