Andrzej Leszczyc, Jerzy Skolimowski, follows his alter ego from Walkover (1965) into the original Hands Up! (1967), a surreal reunion of Leszczyc with four former colleagues inside an abandoned railway wagon that gradually becomes a somber reflection on Poland’s past and its uncertain future.
Leszczyc, now a veterinary surgeon, and the former students refer to themselves by the makes of the cars they own: Leszczyc has a Zastawa, one colleague drives a Wartburg, and the group includes an Opel Rekord and the Alfa Romeo owned by the unhappy couple. Bogumił Kobiela portrays Wartburg, Tadeusz Łomnicki drives the Opel Rekord, and Joanna Szczerbic embodies Alfa, the car owned by the distressed pair.
