Dancing Fools & Boléro: Dates, Cities & Tickets

Experience the spellbinding journey of the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, led by conductor Fredrik Burstedt, as they step into the dazzling world of early twentieth‑century Parisian ballet and modernist drama. Dutch–French virtuoso Johan Dalene delivers an electrifying violin performance, taking the stage in Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s radiant Violin Concerto in D major, an exilic masterpiece that weaves lyrical warmth, film‑score motifs, and soaring virtuosity into a melancholic longing for a lost Europe.

The program then transports you to the surreal realm of “Maison de Fous” (Därhuset), a groundbreaking one‑act play by Swedish composer Viking Dahl, based on Pär Lagerkvist’s “Himlens hemlighet.” This evening unveils a newly unearthed critical edition prepared by musicologist Anders Viklund, offering fans an intimate, fresh encounter with this pioneering modernist gem.

Prepare to be hypnotized by Maurice Ravel’s iconic Boléro (1928), a masterwork built on a single, rippling theme that ascends through orchestral colors and drum‑driven pulses toward ecstatic climax, a true dance toward transcendent ecstasy.

Program:

- Germaine Tailleferre, “Valse des dépêches”

- Erich Wolfgang Korngold, Violin Concerto in D major (featuring themes from “Another Dawn,” “Anthony Adverse,” and “The Prince and the Pauper”)
