Mozart & Morricone: Dates, Cities & Tickets

Experience the enchanting collision of timeless classical brilliance and cinematic magic in “Mozart & Morricone.” Join Jönköpings Sinfonietta, led by conductor Johannes Gustavsson, for a spellbinding harmony of one of Mozart’s most beloved symphonies and the evocative soundscapes of film legend Ennio Morricone, presented through the virtuoso soloing of English oboist Rebecca Millard.

Rebecca Millard, who has graced the Sinfonietta’s stage since 2023, makes her dazzling solo debut in the season’s Sunday Symphony series. She opens with the sparkling elegance of Bohuslav Martinů’s Oboe Concerto, then ventures into Morricone’s haunting “Gabriel’s Oboe” from the film The Mission, brilliantly capturing the emotional depth of the score that graced the screens for Robert de Niro and Jeremy Irons. The season’s finale comes in the form of Mozart’s richly textured Symphony No. 39, a testament to his masterful craftsmanship and enduring appeal.

Before the soloist’s yarn unfolds, immerse yourself in Jacques Ibert’s energetic “Divertissement,” an orchestral gem bursting with wit and ingenuity. The evening’s carefully curated program, J. Ibert, M. Martinů, Ennio Morricone, and A. Mozart, draws audiences into an intersection of orchestral virtuosity and unforgettable film music, all conducted by Gustavsson’s deft baton.

Let the orchestra’s resonant sound envelop you, and feel the melding of eras as they celebrate the grandeur of Mozart and the sensory mastery of Morricone in one unforgettable concert film experience.
