Tom Hooper

Thomas George Hooper (born 5 October 1972) is a British-Australian filmmaker. Beginning his career by making short films as a teenager, he has since received various accolades, including an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, a Primetime Emmy Award and three Golden Globe Awards. As an Oxford University graduate, he directed plays and commercials during his time there. He gained acclaim for directing HBO projects Elizabeth I and John Adams, both of which earned him significant recognition including a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Limited Series.

After directing successful BBC dramas in the early 2000s, Hooper's breakthrough came with directing historical drama, The King's Speech, which earned him an Academy Award for Best Director. His following movies, Les Miserables and The Danish Girl, were also well-received and nominated for numerous awards. In 2019, he directed the live-action adaptation of the musical Cats. Hooper's directorial style is known for its attention to historical detail and unique camera techniques, which he often experiments with in his movies.
