Jordan, born to Donna and Michael A. Jordan, spent his early years in Santa Ana, California, before moving to Newark, New Jersey. He launched his acting career in 1999 with brief appearances in series like Cosby and The Sopranos. His breakthrough came with his role in Fruitvale Station, which drew comparisons to a young Denzel Washington. His performance in Marvel Cinematic Universe's Black Panther further cemented his place in Hollywood. Juggling multiple hats, Jordan co-owns the English Premier League football club AFC Bournemouth besides running his production company, Outlier Society Productions, known for projects like Gen:Lock and Just Mercy. His directorial debut was with Creed III in 2023. His next projects include a film on the Atlanta Public Schools cheating scandal, titled Wrong Answer, second remake of The Thomas Crown Affair, Blood Brothers, and an HBO Max series titled Val-Zod.
