Melvin James Kaminsky, known professionally as Mel Brooks, is renowned as an American actor, comedian, and filmmaker. With a prolific career spanning over seven decades, Brooks is recognized for his contributions and inceptions of a broad range of farces and parodies. He is an honored recipient of the EGOT- an Emmy Award, a Grammy Award, an Academy Award, and a Tony Award. His career was further catapulted in 2009 with a Kennedy Center Honor, a coveted Hollywood Walk of Fame star in 2010, the AFI Life Achievement Award in 2013, renowned British Film Institute Fellowship in 2015, a National Medal of Arts in 2016, a BAFTA Fellowship in 2017, and the Honorary Academy Award in 2024. Brooks started his career as a comic and a writer for Sid Caesar's variety show Your Show of Shows from 1950 to 1954. His legacy began through the creation of various comedy series and the grand win of the Best Original Screenplay for The Producers(1967). Brooks is also an author, where his novel 'World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War' (2006) was widely known. As part of his personal life, Brooks had two marriages, first with Florence Baum, and then with renowned actress Anne Bancroft till her death in 2005.
