Marwan Kenzari

Marwan Kenzari (Arabic: مروان كنزاري; born 16 January 1983) is a lauded Dutch actor who started his illustrious career in 2008. The film that propelled him to national prominence was 'Wolf' in 2013, landing him a prestigious Golden Calf award for Best Actor. The shift to English-language films in 2016 marked a significant stage in his career and broadened his global reach. Internationally, he's widely recognized for his roles in well-known films such as Aladdin (2019), The Old Guard (2020), and Black Adam (2022). Raised in The Hague, Netherlands, within a Tunisian family, Kenzari nurtured a passion for football during his teenage years, until an audition for the Dutch version of Chicago musical changed his trajectory.

In 2009, after graduating from the Maastricht Academy of Dramatic Arts, Kenzari was swiftly recruited by the Toneelgroep Amsterdam, granting him opportunities to tour various global cities, including Moscow, London, Vienna, and New York City. He's been gracing the Dutch films and TV screens from 2008, with his performance in 'Wolf' earning him a Golden Calf for Best Actor at the Netherlands Film Festival. This role required Kenzari to train extensively for over a year to portray the kickboxer, Majid, convincingly. Variety acknowledged his talented display, recognizing him as an 'International Star You Should Know'. He continued to impress, winning a Shooting Stars Award at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2014. His steadily rising acclaim saw him feature in major English-language films like Collide, Ben-Hur, The Promise, and not forgetting his portrayal as the 'hot Jafar' in Disney's live-action adaptation of Aladdin.
