Mamoudou Athie

Mamoudou Athie is a renowned American actor, born in 1988 and became active in the acting industry since 2012. He held his first performance in theater, starring Off-Broadway in 2015 in the show titled 'The Mystery of Love and Sex'. Since then, he went on to take roles in multiple notable films including 'Patti Cake$', 'The Circle', 'Unicorn Store', 'The Front Runner', 'Underwater', 'Jurassic World Dominion', 'The Burial', and 'Kinds of Kindness'. His television appearances include shows such as 'The Get Down', 'The Detour', 'Sorry for Your Loss', and the FXX anthology 'Cake'. In 2020, he landed his first feature film starring roles in 'Uncorked' and 'Black Box' and thereafter, led the cast in the Netflix horror series 'Archive 81' in 2022. He also landed a voice role in the Pixar animated film 'Elemental' set to premiere in 2023. Athie's origin traces back to Mauritania where he was born to a diplomat father who, due to a political asylum situation, moved to the U.S. when Athie was only six months old. He spent most of his childhood in New Carrollton, Maryland, on the outskirts of Washington, D.C. His passion for acting led him to study at the William Esper Studio in the Two-Year Professional Actor Training Program. Subsequently, he obtained his MFA from the prestigious Yale School of Drama, graduating in 2014. This shows the intensity of Athie's dedication to his craft, fuelling his impressive rise in the film and television industry.
