What's After the Movie
Harry Charles Salusbury Lloyd (born 17 November 1983) is an English actor whose career spans television, film, stage and voice work. Born in London to a literary family, he is the great‑great‑great‑grandson of Charles Dickens and the grandson of Peter Gerald Charles Dickens, giving him a distinguished cultural heritage. He attended Eton College where he debuted on television at sixteen as James Steerforth in the BBC adaptation of David Copperfield, a role that introduced him to a wide audience alongside Daniel Radcliffe. After Eton he studied English at Christ Church, Oxford, joining the Oxford University Dramatic Society and performing in productions such as Kiss of the Spider Woman and The Comedy of Errors, the latter taking him on a tour of Japan. Lloyd’s professional stage debut came in 2007 at the Trafalgar Studios in Neil LaBute’s A Gaggle of Saints, earning critical praise and an Off West End Award nomination. He achieved early television fame as Will Scarlet in the BBC series Robin Hood (2006) and as Jeremy Baines in the Doctor Who two‑part story “Human Nature” and “The Family of Blood” (2007), a performance that led to speculation about him as a future Doctor. His breakout international role arrived in 2011 when he portrayed the ambitious Viserys Targaryen in the first season of HBO’s Game of Thrones, a part that showcased his ability to convey both vulnerability and ruthless ambition. Subsequent television work includes starring as Paul Crosley in Manhattan, Peter Quayle in Counterpart, and Bernard Marx in Brave New World, while his voice‑over credits feature Viktor in Netflix’s Arcane and Z in the video game Xenoblade Chronicles 3. In film, Lloyd has appeared in The Theory of Everything (2014), the World War II drama Anthropoid (2016) and The Wife (2017), demonstrating a versatility that spans period pieces, science‑fiction and historical narratives. Outside of his craft, he is an avid Chelsea F.C. supporter and continues to explore new mediums, including narrating audiobooks and podcasts.
