Hamish Linklater

Hamish Linklater is an accomplished American actor and playwright, born on July 7, 1976 in New York City, New York. The son of Kristin Linklater, a Scottish-born Professor of Theatre at Columbia University, he was exposed to theatrical arts from an early age, performing small Shakespearean roles at the tender age of eight. He graduated from the Commonwealth School in Boston in 1994 and continued his studies at Amherst College. Linklater made his big-screen debut in the 2000 film Groove and earned significant acclaim for his role as Matthew Kimble in The New Adventures of Old Christine (2006-2010), Andrew Keanelly in The Crazy Ones (2013-2014), and Clark Debussy in Legion (2017-2019). In 2021, Linklater's performance in the horror miniseries Midnight Mass earned him critical acclaim.

In addition to his successful film and television career, Linklater has an extensive theater background. He has been part of various productions such as The Busy World Is Hushed and Broadway's Seminar. In 2009, he played Sir Andrew Aguecheek in The Public Theater's production of Twelfth Night at Shakespeare in the Park. He navigated towards challenging roles and delivered commendable performances in blockbusters like the Jackie Robinson biopic 42, and the critically acclaimed series The Newsroom. He also featured in the FX original series Legion and the Amazon Prime series Tell Me Your Secrets. Furthermore, he began filming Downtown Owl in 2022, a film based on the Chuck Klosterman novel of the same name, showcasing his prowess as a screenwriter, producer, and director. Beside his career, Linklater's personal life includes a short-lived marriage to playwright Jessica Goldberg, with whom he had a daughter, and a long term relationship with actress Lily Rabe, with whom he has three children.
