Bellows was able to grab the critical acclaim for his stage performances in 'The Snake and the Vein', 'Flaubert's Latest', and his first starring role in 'Love and a .45'. He gained wide fame for his brilliant performance as Tommy in 'The Shawshank Redemption' which was nominated for seven Academy Awards, including “Best Picture” and is often considered as one of the greatest films ever made.

Bellows is also known for his stunning role as Billy Thomas in the popular Fox’s legal dramedy series 'Ally McBeal'. His character played a key role in making the show reach a record-breaking viewership of nearly 17 million viewers. Besides acting, Bellows also holds commendable achievements as a producer. Some of his notable works include 'Temple Grandin' which garnered him both a Primetime Emmy Award and a Peabody Award. He also produced, starred in, co-wrote, and co-directed the film '3 Days in Havana'.
