Daniel Shor is an American actor, director, writer, and acting teacher whose career has spanned more than four decades, beginning in the late 1970s and continuing to the present day. Born on November 16, 1956 in New York City, he grew up attending the McBurney School and later Elisabeth Irwin High School before enrolling at Northwestern University in the fall of 1974. After returning to New York, Shor landed the lead role of Alan Strang in the first national company of Equus, launching a series of stage and screen opportunities that would define his versatile portfolio. His early training took place at the Davis Center for Performing Arts at the City College of New York and the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, where he performed in Ann Jellicoe's punk rock musical The Sport Of My Mad Mad Mother alongside Nigel Planer. Shor's film breakthrough came with the role of Enoch Emery in John Huston's Wise Blood (1979), followed by memorable parts such as Pete Brady in Strange Behavior (1981), Ram in the groundbreaking sci‑fi classic Tron (1982), and Billy the Kid in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989). He also appeared in Air Force One (1997) and earned a People's Choice Award for his work on the television miniseries The Blue and the Gray (1982). Television credits include regular work on Cagney & Lacey, guest spots on Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager, and a role in The Blacklist (2022). Beyond acting, Shor has directed numerous stage productions, winning over thirty awards that include Drama‑Logue, Ovation, and LA Weekly honors. He founded the production company ShodaVision while living in the Northern Mariana Islands, creating content such as Life On Film: Rock and reality series Screen Test for Fashion TV. As an educator, he has taught acting at the International Academy of Film and Television in Cebu, Philippines, and continues to contribute to New York theater, most recently in the experimental conversational play Outpost.
