War can leave families haunted by loss and unanswered questions. In March 1970 a U.S. Army officer told Peg and Gene Mullen in Iowa that their son Michael was killed in Vietnam by friendly fire. The film chronicles Mullens’ search for truth about his death, showing their hometown attempts to learn more about the circumstances of the loss.
