Christopher McQuarrie

Christopher McQuarrie, born October 25, 1968, is an esteemed American screenwriter, film producer, and director famed for the neo-noir mystery film The Usual Suspects, for which he received the BAFTA Award, Independent Spirit Award, and Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. His directorial debut came with the crime thriller film The Way of the Gun in 2000. McQuarrie has frequently collaborated with prominent actor, Tom Cruise, having written and directed the action films Jack Reacher and four installments of the Mission: Impossible film series. He also contributed to the writing and/or producing team on films like Valkyrie, Edge of Tomorrow, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, The Mummy, and Top Gun: Maverick.

McQuarrie embarked on his movie career in 1993 with the thriller Public Access, which won critics over and clinched awards at the Deauville American Film Festival and Sundance Film Festival. Aside from his achievements, McQuarrie also made headways with films like The Tourist, which grossed US$278 million, and directed his second feature, Jack Reacher, an adaptation of One Shot, which contributed to the gross of US$195 million at the North American box office with his third directed film, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. In 2018, McQuarrie returned to write and direct the sixth Mission: Impossible film, Mission: Impossible – Fallout, which became the franchise's highest-grossing title netting over $791 million worldwide.
