Bradford Claude Dourif, born on March 18, 1950, is an American semi-retired actor renowned for his work across many popular franchises. He lent his voice to the character of Chucky in the 'Child's Play' franchise, portrayed Gríma Wormtongue in 'The Lord of the Rings' film series, and landed an Oscar-nominated role as Billy Bibbit in 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest'. His other film appearances include 'Wise Blood', 'Ragtime', 'Dune', 'Blue Velvet', 'Mississippi Burning', 'The Exorcist III', 'Alien Resurrection', and the 2007 remake of 'Halloween' and its sequel. Dourif was highly active in television series as well, making a notable impact in 'Deadwood' which fetched him Primetime Emmy and Satellite Award nominations for his portrayal of Amos 'Doc' Cochran.
Bradford was born in Huntington, West Virginia, to an actress mother and an art collector father. He got involved in acting from his high school and moved to New York City for his higher studies pursuing acting. In New York, he worked with the Circle Repertory Company, studying with Sanford Meisner. Later, he taught acting and directing classes at Columbia University, further consolidating his career in this field. He has predominantly worked in horror films, prominently lending his voice to Chucky in the 'Child's Play' franchise. Dourif also played significant roles in numerous Werner Herzog films and made a mark in the television world with appearances in series such as 'Star Trek: Voyager', 'The X-Files', and 'Fringe'. In 2021, he reprised his role as Chucky in the television series adaptation, titled 'Chucky'.
