In 2003, Chaank Armaments stands as the world’s leading manufacturer of cutting-edge weapons and military hardware. A cybernetically enhanced supersoldier, codenamed “Hard Man,” malfunctions and massacres patrons at a diner before security operatives, led by John Carpenter, detain him. The incident sparks a fierce public outcry, with the blame largely aimed at the company’s new chief executive Hayden Cale.

The board’s fear of losing key contracts pushes Chairman of the Board Scott Ridley to attempt a cover-up of the incident and the broader problems with Project: Hard Man. Cale pushes for full public disclosure and calls for the firing of Jack Dante, the weapon designer behind the project. Despite her protests about fatal flaws in the project, Ridley’s collaborators ignore her, and Dante’s influence remains unchecked. Cale is warned by a junior executive about Dante’s dangerous tendencies and the fate of her late predecessor Nicholson. When Cale confronts Dante to demand progress on Vault 10, he resists, even blackmailing her with intimate knowledge of her personal life. Cale briefly gains access to Ridley’s card to investigate on her own, while Dante, sensing a threat, murders Ridley with a mysterious weapon.

Meanwhile, three eco-warriors—[Raimi], [Weyland], and [Yutani]—infiltrate Chaank’s headquarters to destroy its digital assets and push the company toward bankruptcy. After discovering Ridley’s corpse, Carpenter contacts Cale and she learns that the killer’s source lies within Vault 10. Determined, she terminates Dante’s employment and seals the vault, but Dante people the building with a too-close-for-comfort threat as the eco-warriors arrive to take hostages and force access to the secure area. As Raimi, Weyland, and Yutani improvise a plan to breach containment, Dante suggests an alternative route—target Vault 10, rather than cutting through the containment wall.

When the vault is opened, Dante activates his invention—the Frontline Morale Destroyer (a.k.a. the Warbeast)—which quickly kills Weyland. Raimi escapes with Yutani and the restrained Cale and Carpenter. As Raeimi and Yutani pursue a path to the top floor, they uncover classified items including the core components of Project: Hard Man. Raimi is fitted with the data and downloads its essence into his brain, enabling him to fight back. A fierce chase spills onto an outdoor service elevator, where Raimi and Cale survive while Yutani is slain by the Warbeast. Back on the surface, an officer is killed by the Warbeast as it leaps from the rooftop, forcing Raimi and Cale back into Chaank. A pitched struggle leaves Raimi temporarily unconscious, but he eventually overpowers Dante, and the two escape. Hayden traps Dante inside Vault 10 with his own creation, the Warbeast, leaving the imprisoned scientist hunted behind the vault’s reinforced door as the metallic hunter closes in.
