William Nettles Goodwin, known as Bill Goodwin, was an American radio announcer and actor. Born on July 28, 1910, in San Francisco, California, Goodwin entered the entertainment industry through stage productions on the West Coast. He began working in radio in 1930, initially in Portland, Oregon, followed by stints at stations in Sacramento and Los Angeles. Known for his promotional skills on radio and television, he was the first announcer to successfully integrate advertisements into the show's storyline. Goodwin was the 'featured comedian' on The Frank Sinatra Show and The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show. His own program, The Bill Goodwin Show, ran in 1947. He acted in films such as The Stork Club (1945), The Jolson Story (1946), and Jolson Sings Again (1949). He became the narrator for animated television cartoon Gerald McBoing-Boing towards the end of his career. Bill Goodwin passed away at the age of 47 on May 9, 1958, due to a heart attack in Palm Springs, California.
